Sykkelkjole II / Bycycle Dress II

Den fyrste “sykkelkjolen” var såpass stor suksess at eg sydde ein til niesa mi sin 6 årsdag også. Denne er i ein slankare variant, sidan jenta er smal. Det er jo noko av det som er moro med å sy sjølv, at ein kan tilpasse proporsjonane på plagget til den som skal bruke det :-)

The first “bicycle dress” was such a success that I made one for my niece’s sixth birtday too. This dress is a more slim fit version. That’s one of the things that makes sewing fun; you can alter the proportions of the garment according to the person who is going to were it :-)

Oups, eg gløymde å sy i storleikslapp i nakken før eg sydde ned saummonnen med covermaskina… Derfor blei det storleiks-“lapp”/markør for kva som er bak ved hjelp av vinyl strykestoff i staden for. Og då kan ein like godt take med mottakarens initialer også!

Oups, I forgot to attach the size tag before I stitched the top cover seam around the neckline. So I used vinyl iron on for “size tag” (basically for showing what’s back and what’s front of the garment). And when using vinyl transfer, I could put on the child’s initials too!

Sidan saummonnen i armhola skal brettast mot vranga, tenkte eg at eg skulle halde den unna overlock-kniven. Derfor sydde eg på ermet med ein kort sikksakksaum fyrst (blå strek nr 1), samme sikksakk i enden av ermet. Deretter køyrde eg meg innpå med overlocken etterpå (grønn nr 2). Pressa saummonnen mot vranga og sydde heilt rundt med cover-saum til slutt.

Because the seam allowance in the armpit is to be folded towards the wrong side, I thought that I should keep it away from the overlock knife. So I started to stitch the sleeve on by using zigzag (Blue no. 1), the first and last few centimetres of the seam. Then I stitched my way on like the green no. 2 shows. Finally pressing the seam allowance to the wrong side and stitching a top cover seam with the coverstitch machine (no. 3)
